Pilot with American Psychiatric Association supports critical addiction medicine research
WASHINGTON D.C.—Mar. 12, 2021—TryCycle, the software company that turns health data into opportunities for clinical dialogue, today announced that it is advancing a data-driven approach to solving the opioid crisis in the United States by engaging in a pilot project with the American Psychiatric Association (APA). The pilot will test measurement-based digital tools that will help addiction medicine providers better address the epidemic, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives and devastated communities across the country.
“Treating opioid addiction requires a sensitive balancing act between data analytics and human compassion,” said John MacBeth, CEO of TryCycle. “The patient must never be seen as ‘just a number,’ but in reality, without numbers, you cannot effectively deal with the crisis. Data defines what’s going on, so you can find evidence-based solutions. That’s how we will conquer this modern-day plague.”
The TryCycle platform creates a “Digital Compassionate Tether” in the spaces between treatment and therapy. It collects data to facilitate case management and risk-based triage, enhancing clinical decision making, early outreach and interventions. The TryCycle approach involves gaining access to real-time data in real world settings, beyond the walls of the clinic.
TryCycle’s digital platform will enable data collection, monitoring and reporting with the APA’s Addiction Medicine Network (AMNet) through the development of a portal/application for practitioners to help implement measurement-based care. During a one-year pilot program, TryCycle will digitize patient-reported assessments, to be adopted and utilized by addiction medicine/psychiatry practices. The process may include integrated care with peer recovery support/coaches who can facilitate collecting patient reported outcomes and data using TryCycle’s unique “tethered” approach.
AMNet is a growing practice-based research network of addiction medicine professionals. The network is focused on measuring and improving patient outcomes through the collection of data in PsychPRO – APA’s CMS-Qualified Clinical Data Registry. AMNet will be able to serve as a platform for future research studies.
